Well, what do you know? Microsoft has announced at Build that Windows will now be free for OEMs building devices with a screen under 9 inches (they can be smartphones, tablets, and Internet of Things devices).
From a cost perspective, this is huge for hardware makers. For us consumers, hopefully, this translates to more affordable devices.
