This morning I lost my THL W1

WeChat got a new update !! 5.0.3

Oh I am so excited that the new wechat

has few of the update that I looking for and being suggesting to wechat feedback

Before you update, please remember to manual backup all your chat history

Yes an auto backup at midnight 3am will be good features for next release 6

For advance user

Please move your wehcat application from SD card to Internal memory

:ater you can use titanium backup to move back to SD memory

So with all these new features, it can beat whatsapp and viber all together

Number one and two features

It cater for market outside of China

My error of server connectivity (1,273) seem to be disappear !!

so more connection outside China seem to be in store

it is the third and fourth features that is exciting

but it is a bit tricky to use

you have to press the message to send via email

(or any message icon)

Under the More option

you can then select the message to send via email

PS: too bad I can not find the select all message buttons

Or you can forward those messages (except audio messages)

Same principles apply to fourth features

Another excellant features is voice chat that I wish all

of you to test out

in previous version I use video chat and downgrade to voice chat

(My reasoning is that wechat will make full use of data channels

to convey the video message, so wehcat can handle voice conversation

easily as less resources is needed. So in practical situation as in now

some people may not have Wifi or 4G so both side conversation

should not as bad as viber or skype)

now with walkie-talkie (live chat) and voice chat

(whatsapp copy and add voice message much latter)

it is very competitive and able kill viber or skype

and even whatsapp

Some of the walkie-talkie features may not fight with

specialised software like Palringo or Zello

But it is good enough for simple and group walkie talkie

Its' moment features is comparable if not better than FaceBook

Wechat has huge users in China (more than whatsapp internation).

Wechat also gain popular in Vietnam, Thailand and asian countries

So we asians have to promote such social media to the westerners

and Internationally

Other patching up existing versions as in previous mentioned is to be able to select the whole conversation and send out via email or forwards to others

Also that will include voice messages too.

Some of the features has been removed like shake to less fun sonar button to search for friend around but it is more practical.

Future features I would like to see as in Google Waze (only when you drive), you can see in suround Google maps where are your friends (or those who send out sonar) around you

For wechat moment, may be it;s time to add video or add youtube link

Its parent software QQ was able to do that many years ago

(It will be good if QQ can link with blog software like blogger or wordpress)

Also the timeline features etc

In conclusion, WeChat has finetune itself and become better and integrated than other social media software. 

How to access US yahoo email yahoo.com after being stuck in mail.cn.yahoo.com

When I came back from China

again i can not access to yahoo email in Singapore

and end up stuck to the same page that my email has been migrated

I did report [Incident:130822-034804] but I solved the problem by myself

(so some how the intelligent yet stupid yahoo routers know I 

have access mail.cn.yahoo.com last few days)

I did access yahoo while i am in China

as to send out email or share infor

So today

on PC i clear all history data in Chrome browser

(run as administrator) under the advance setting

(I only try clear the history data for past 4 weeks)

Also under the yahoo profile, I ensure my location is set at Singapore

I was luckily to read back US yahoo email while back Singapore

The on hp YMail application

I clear data and cache

Then I re-login to mobile yahoo

and I know I sure can read the yahoo email in US

and also let yahoo router know that I am in Singapore now

Lastly on PC login to www.yahoo.com

Then finally goto yahoo home page

on left panel and choose more sites

and access Mail from there

There be some shortcut in between

But my experiences tell me to clear all caches and data on yahoo servers

Hope this way can help others that got the same unique problems

as none Alibaba or US yahoo helpdesk able to help on this

Will monitor the situations

Now my yahoo email interface is still in Chinese
and the access email server is http://cn-mg61.mail.yahoo.com

So is still waiting for answer from
Yahoo! Customer Care <customercare-en@cc.yahoo-inc.com> and
ymail@service.cn.yahoo.com

It is a sad thing that yahoo services was not as good as before

Android Internal memory shortage

Last night YS give me another tips

Other than App2SD

Titanium backup can even move more applications to SD card

now I got .998M internal memory 

and left with 166 Mb free

so the aim is to clear until 388Mb internal memory free up

for application to run

manual wechat backup and restore

last night maybe (only)

after clean Dalvik cache

(also before that there is a corruption when update to wechat 5.0)

my wechat on W7 can not used or login

(Error server 1,2357 ... please login again)

After few login failed, 

I login via on W1

and i see few of old messages but not good enough

Still i do a backup to the server

I got no choice but to re-install wechat 5.0 on W7 for third times

(still have to find all the duplicates download files to clean up on next week

maybe using SD maid)

Now for the manual backup

The only way I find it to use web.wechat.com

and there is a video on old wechat 4.5

wechat 5.0 the web.wechat is under Me, setting, General etc which too difficult to access. Same for moment option there is no short cut for it. hope to see in next version improvement

these seem silly small utilities but it has great potential if 

you know how to make use of them

Now focus on web.wechat

once you open web.wechat.com on PC

you can use wechat on hp at the same time

the unknow features is that you can copy and paste

those conversations on PC

You can paste onto email etc

You may argue ....

anyway another features is that you can copy any information

on the member "file transfer"

so any images or video on wechat can easily being transfer to your PC

As for last questions, why just dun provide a direct backup

While, you can try to write to wechat team ....

Google Maps/Navigation 6.14.3

I have been wanting to post this so maybe can get Google and others' attention

Anyway, I am now using Google Maps everyday that 

I have gathering some tips maybe useful to you

1. There is a maps and navigation app

But you only know Google maps when you installed or pre-installed

you can find the navigation (blue up arrow) in all program and drag

into home screen

I collected lots of app and put under a folder on screen as in

2. I am still running 6.14.3 as ver 7 is still not stable yet

so email to me and I will you the apk to installed back old version

and this post is only mostly applicable to version 6.14.3

3. Why separate icons? you will know when you choose navigator

By the way, on this screen set your home address and you can use Go home shortcut

This give you the best immediate maps when you driving

(Although I am still looking for the short cut to this options -

I have tried widget Maps air to airport on the home screen  -
but this is only two clicks away)

4. Keep the navigator on and you can choose the next location

via under option on bottom right - More option

5. Best search for location is via maps

(navigator a bit less flexible and that's the difference)

Divert your attention back to Maps for a while

you choose places via many short cut 

eg ris for Paris ris

batok for bukit batok

use short form as in st for street

and dr for drive

the more you use, the more cache maps collect

another tips is that you use whatever addresses show on maps

then you click on that wrong address and correct to eg Paris ris Street 53

or choose and landmark places

and choose few locations on screen

eg bus stop

But  the best is ask for the postal codes for lots of foreigners with weird accents.

Please update me if you have others short cut name

6. or you can update your personal dictionary in the Android setting

for lot of singapore road name

This is just a quick guide

so need your feedback to polish this post

D-Link Gigabit switch

Has not brought any gadget for a while

Waiting for PC show and brought a D-Link Gigabit switch for $30
(The other model is TP Link for $30 (2 dollar being waived due to show closing time)
and that TP link has no physical prototype to see how big
but the packaging is much bigger)

THL has a booth there too
and they are offering $ 260 for W8

The switch also failed to provide 1 Gbps
and it take trial and error
to find out that it is the cable that decide the speed
(of course all other setting has not able to stop/ensure 1Gbps on hardware properties)

Luckily THL W7 Quad Core is available in ShenZhen HuaQiangBei

was in time when I about to send my THL W1 for repair for a day

and got the original factory repair and has International ROM with google play market installed

(repair shop is vital as can have old hp repaired

and now THL has changed their software partner company

so even THL W7 8G ROM International software version will be out soon

BTW there is W7 Single core and W7 Dual Core)

As I may not using the best 32Gb Class 10 SD card now

3. Most of all, for both W1 and W7 need to find way to install application on the SD cards. Once that is solved I will buy an original geniue SD card

FYI with this I solved the mystery 

ChangJiang CJ and THL

are the same company

(Ah shen / WangJian told me that on the last day

if said earlier I can give him the CJ HD9 to him

also ask to repair the external battery pack too) 

ChangJiang brand name is for external export from China

as this name often difficult register in China due to ChangJiang River

So from CJ 9 to THL W1 to THL W7 Quad Core

on my next 19 May trip to Shenzhen I may repair my brick CJ 9

and get back my Onn M6 tablet from Gnome shop

(my repair on W1 screen is 110 RMB)

and I will have whole range of collection. Ha

Then maybe I will move to other brand like Lenovo
